Everything You Always Wanted to Know
About The WRJ Southeast District

What is the WRJ Southeast District?

The WRJ Southeast District is one of eight districts of Women of Reform Judaism. It is composed of 70 affiliate Sisterhoods comprising approximately 7000 Women of Reform Judaism in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

What is our purpose?

The WRJ Southeast District is a communicating link between the local Sisterhoods and the WRJ office in New York. We interpret, implement, and intensify the programs and projects of WRJ.

How is it Organized?

The Executive Committee of the WRJ Southeast District is composed of a President, 1st Vice-President, 2 Vice Presidents,
2 Senior Area Directors, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Communications Coordinator, Chaplain and Parliamentarian. The Board is composed of the Executive Committee, District Chair people, The President's Forum, Presidents of Local Sisterhoods, and all WRJ Board Members from the WRJ Southeast District.

When does the WRJ Southeast District hold meetings?

Currently, the District holds a Biennial meeting in the fall of the even-numbered years and an Interim Board meeting in the spring of the odd-numbered years. The Executive Committee meets twice a year to conduct business.

At the meetings, delegates have the opportunity to meet other women with similar goals; to receive inspiration and information from leaders in the district, guest speakers, and other Sisterhood representatives; to learn new techniques to develop Sisterhood programs and projects; and to offer suggestions for the betterment of our district and WRJ in general.

Who is my direct link to the WRJ Southeast District?

Your direct link, in addition to your Sisterhood President, is your Area Director. She will contact your Sisterhood three times a year informing you of happenings throughout the district and WRJ happenings, plus she will inform the district of what your Sisterhood is doing. Information can also be obtained from the Bulletin which is sent out three times a year. And of course, the WRJ Southeast District President is always available when you need her! Any of these people may serve as a resource person to help with ideas, guest speakers and Sisterhood issues.
